What Is a Lab Grown Diamond?
Natural diamonds take several billion years to complete. It occurs when carbon deposits deep below the earth’s surface are exposed to high temperatures and pressure, causing the carbon atoms to bond together and slowly form a crystal. Lab grown diamonds are grown in a controlled environment using processes that simulate those found in nature forming in the Earth's crust. The only thing which makes lab grown diamonds different from a natural diamond is how it originated.
Some people mistake lab grown diamonds for other white gemstones like moissanite or cubic zirconia, but lab grown diamonds are real diamonds in every sense. Lab-grown diamonds are structurally, chemically, and visually identical to natural stones without the ethical or environmental harmful effects of mining. They have the same fire, scintillation, and sparkle as their natural counterparts.
